Mia Carter, Master Student

Mia is a first-year graduate student in FSU’s School of Communication Science and Disorders. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from FSU in 2021 and a Communication Science and Disorders degree in 2022. She is currently assisting with a research project that examines the effects of electromagnetic articulography sensors on speech production in persons with and without dysarthria.

 

 

 

Micah Hirsh, Doctoral Student

Micah (they/them) is a PhD candidate in the School of Communication Science and Disorders at Florida State University. They earned their B.S. in Speech and Hearing Science from Arizona State University in 2017 and their M.S. in Communication Science and Disorders from FSU in 2019. Their broad research interests are in motor speech disorders and speech science. Currently, their work is focused on examining listening effort during dysarthric speech perception.

 

 

 

 

 

Courtney Wilkinson, Master StudentĀ 

Courtney is a second-year graduate student in FSU’s School of Communication Science and Disorders. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication Science and Disorders from FSU in 2022. Courtney is currently assisting several lab projects as a research assistant (RA). She is excited to present a study at the annual convention of American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association, which investigates acoustic and kinematic contrastivity in speakers with Parkinson’s disease (November 2023, Boston, MA).

 

 

 

 

 

Haley Willms, Master Student

Haley is a first-year graduate student in FSU’s School of Communication Science and Disorders. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication Science and Disorders from the University of Central Florida in May 2023. Haley is currently assisting with a clinical study that determines the effectiveness of anew digital speech therapy app in improving speech intelligibility in people with dysarthria secondary to a stroke.
